How are you? No, really. I mean it. How are you? To say it’s a confusing time to be alive would be a massive understatement. Now, I don’t want to remind you of all the chaos going on in the world right now. I’m sure you’re tired of the news. I know you’re well aware of the events that have unfolded across the globe recently.
But the fact is things are not okay. We can’t deny that. No matter where you are on earth, we’re all getting used to a new reality, one in which fear, anxiety, and uncertainty take center stage.
But you know what else has been rising to the top?
People helping people, especially the most vulnerable among us. The other day I heard a story of a couple who tipped $9400 at a restaurant because they knew the employees would soon be laid off. Grocery stores have designated special hours of the day for the elderly only. Neighbors have been checking on neighbors. People are singing from their balconies. It’s a beautiful thing. As for me, I have been busy in my home studio working on new music, and I can’t wait to share it with you. Follow me on Instagram, Facebook, and Twitter, too, to see how else I’m riding this wave with you.
But here’s my fear. We’ve seen this before. Tragedy occurs. People rally together. Then life returns to normal, and so do we. The tipping becomes smaller. Stores resume normal operations, check-ins between neighbors become less frequent, and the singing subsides.
So here’s my pledge to you. I will not return to “normal.” The love, kindness, patience, and compassion that drives us though a tragedy will continue to drive my music and the care I show towards my fellow human beings. I hope you will join me, and I hope that soon, we can once again celebrate life together. For now, love one another, love yourself, and cherish each and every moment with those around you.
